He would not have studied 'long and hard' to acquire his degrees as I understood his IQ was 149. He passed the exams to enter university at age 16. He was a member of Mensa. Our mother would have been very displeased to hear him called 'Alf'. He was named Alfred after our maternal grandfather Sir Alfred Jerome Cadman KCMG who was a prominent member of the New Zealand Government. These are facts I doubt he would have ever mentioned. He met and married his wife Betty when he was about 25years and they went together to Columbia where 2 of his sons, Robert and David were born.
